Welcome to my professional site

I’ve created this Web site to compile my reporting clips online. I try to keep it as updated as possible. To read through my stories, click on the pages to the right, where I’ve organized my clips by topic. The most recent ones will be under political coverage. To learn more about my experience, click on the ‘resume’ page.

Here’s a little more about who I am and what I do:

I always tell people I’m a ‘journalist’ because I’ve never been just an editor, reporter or page designer.  Throughout my career, I have ended up in combination roles where I regular perform two or three jobs in one. It keeps things interesting and definitely challenging — in a good way.

As a result, I’ve been fortunate enough to work in almost every step of the production process — except actually delivering the paper.

For example, right now, I’m  the State House bureau chief for The Patriot Ledger in Quincy, Mass., but every Sunday night, I’m the supervising news editor. I can also  design pages, shoot and edit videos and work with online content.

I don’t peg myself as a ‘print’ or ‘Web’ person.  Anyone in a communications job today needs to understand both. I’ve taken advantage of professional development opportunities to stay ahead of emerging trends.

I’ve worked on investigative pieces and feature stories, and covered several beats, bringing me and my reporter’s notebook from the local town hall to my current post at the  State House.

I’ve lived and reported in New York, San Francisco and the Greater Boston area. I live in Cambridge.

I have a master’s degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a bachelor’s in political science from Boston College.
